Stainless Steel Turbo Inlet
SS Turbo Inlet- Quick Access:
SS Turbo Inlet Pipe Description
This stainless steel replacement for the rubber OEM counterpart was prototyped & finally offered by
SupraSport in Texas.
The 3" pipe serves as a replacement for the OEM Toyota "accordian hose," located directly before
the turbo compressor inlet; an area where maximum flow, & minimum restriction is desirable. The SS pipe
does this by providing a very smooth path for the just-filtered-air to enter the turbo's compressor, as the
OEM part has a corrugated flex-section midway along its length.
Besides the incremental performance improvement, the SS pipe also provides much greater reliability, since the
OEM rubber part succumbs to the underhood heat & proximity to the hot turbo. No more "cracked"
accordian hose issues...for life.
And finally, we can't ignore the bling-bling factor of polished stainless steel. It'll definitely become an
underhood eye-catcher, joining all of the other polished goodies residing there. Take a look at the pics,
& you'll see what I mean.
The pipe I received was a bonafied prototype, so I wasn't expecting a show piece. Overall, I was pleased at the unit's construction, but a quick inspection did show it was a candidate for some serious cleanup. Bits of welding flash were heavy internally, while the outside was relatively clean. Below, you can see how the pipe looked upon arrival.
