This is one of the things that can happen, when something goes wrong;
OR you do something stupid.
Given this shot of reality, read on.....
So, you want to modify the venerable 7M-GTE engine in your 1987-1992 Supra Turbo, ey? Whether
you're goal is to build a mild-mannered street machine, looking only to enhance driveability and mileage,
or looking to build a lethal supercar, you've come to the right place to get the information you need.
Yes, a rather bold statement; but hey, I've been modding Toyotas for 24 years. So, at the very least, you
have the benefit of knowing that I've tried, succeeded, & failed enough times to have a clue what to
do! No, I won't go so far as to say I know it all...I don't. Luckily, given my circle of friends in this
pursuit, answers are never out of reach.
You'll note I've used a staged format; while not one I'm particularly fond of, it does serve
several purposes:
IMPORTANT:
FIRST and foremost, it must be understood that a sound engine serves as the foundation for any goal, once you've decided
that you do, indeed, wish to mod. Given the simple fact that the MkIII Supra Turbo finds itself anywhere from 9 to 15
years old, this one simple fact cannot be stressed enough! Make certain your engine is in good shape, *before* you even
begin to contemplate going for power adding components.
In addition, other items besides main stage descriptions may appear, relevant to the stage at hand. As with any pursuit,
small details can make the difference between an OK result, & one that truly stands apart from the crowd. That choice,
is yours to make.
Note: Any power figures attached to the various stages, will be offered in ranges of power potential; and as
always, your mileage may vary [YMMV].
